Wrong Way to Make an Omelet

Icy conditions led to this rig tipping over and sliding off the road. Luckily the hydro lines stayed up and no one was hurt.

Unfortunately the cargo wasn’t so lucky. Most of the thousands of eggs traveling in this trailer didn’t make it. Fortunately the hydro lines didn’t come down or it could have been the world’s biggest omelet.

Big Rig Towing is called to many different scenarios and often work with any number of our provinces other services. In this case they work hand in hand with Fortis an Alberta Electricity Provider to clear the lines and recover the big rig.

Snow Removal

Is it that time of year again? Didn’t you just finish shoveling last years snow like, last week?

Snow on the sidewalk or in your driveway is a nuisance and shoveling it can lead to aching muscles and a sore back not to mention frost bitten ears if its cold enough but big chunks of compacted snow flying off the back of a transport trailer at highways speeds can be deadly.

Big Rig Towing regularly gets the call from conscientious companies to make sure that their trailers are free from snow so there is no big chunks of snow flying off the roofs of their trailers and causing an accident.

And you thought shoveling out to the mailbox was a tough job.

Sometimes you just gotta be lucky. This rig used up lottery luck when it ended up hanging from an overpass near Lake Louise.

Fortunately no one was injured and flying debris from the trailer missed a passing freight train.

Big Rig Towing was called to the scene and was able to haul the damaged rig, using it’s seventy five ton rotator, back onto the highway so it could be loaded onto a flat deck and taken back to Calgary.

Fire in The Hole

It’s never good when a fire breaks out in your trailer. What ever the cause the best case scenario is that no one gets hurt.

The fire in this trailer totally devastated it’s cargo and destroyed the trailer itself. Actually burning through the side before it could be contained.

This is when you really need a 75-Ton Rotator to get the job done.

Big Rig Towing made short work of lifting the disabled trailer and getting it on to a flatbed for transport.

Give us a call to find what other heavy lifting jobs Big Rig Towing can accomplish with this equipment.

When You Think You’ve Seen Everything

When this forklift decided to try and escape through the floor of this trailer Big Rig Towing was called to bring their 75 Ton Rotator to give it a lift. After making an adjustment to the roof of the trailer the Rotor made quick work of getting the forklift out and back to work.

Murphy’s Law

Murphy’s Law: What can go wrong will go wrong.

Just because it says towing in the company name doesn’t mean that’s all we do. Sometimes you have to think out side the box. When this vehicle transport trailer decided to come unhinged we had to rig a sling and use the heavy rotator to move the top vehicle out of the way so the damaged rover could be removed.

Give us a call if you have a heavy lifting dilemma. We can help.

Hay Baled

You can never emphasize enough what can happen when you combine too much speed with a tight corner. This 6000 lb load of hay really took a tumble after trying to take a corner with too much speed. Fortunately no one was injured but that is not always the case.

This took more than a tow and a couple of repairs to clean up.

Speed Rolls

It always comes down to how fast your going. This rig rolled because of excessive speed. When you have 40,000 lbs on board one small move and it’s a disaster. Fortunately no one was hurt and Big Rig Towing got the rig back on its wheels and off to repair.

Earth Day 2016: Five Inspiring Facts and How to do Your Bit

Rescue, Recover, Towing

Towing is defined as the process of coupling one object to another, so that one can be pulled along behind the other. It is commonly used to describe the moving of, or in the seizure of, a vehicle.

In Big Rig Towing’s case the terms recovery or rescue is also used along with towing.

Sometimes the recovery of a big rig is not about hooking it up and getting it to repair but more about the logistics of recovering the rig after it has left the road. A somewhat more dangerous scenario than towing a vehicle that is still on its wheels.

Big Rig Towing makes hundreds of these rescue, recoveries every year and while they all present individual challenges they are all resolved at the end of the day.
