Big Rig Towing Professional Towing

In an emergency? Need a tow truck rotator?

A tow truck rotator is essentially a big crane mounted to the deck of the tow truck. It can be used for everything from:

  • lifting heavy machinery that has tumbled from the back of a rig
  • lifting a load that has flipped over
  • removing a load from a rig that needs less weight so it can be towed
  • lifting heavy equipment from one place to another
  • assisting in transferring cargo from one rig to another
  • And so much more…

Big Rig Towing has a number of rotator tow trucks and can boast that they have the only 75 ton rotator in southern Alberta. An expert rotator operator can make all the difference in getting your towing situation resolved quickly and safely.

We pull our fair share of hapless rigs and heavy equipment from any number of situations.

Keep Big Rig’s number – 1 (866) 398-7444 – on hand and call for IMMEDIATE 24/7 service if you find yourself in a precarious situation.

Crane Rescue

Winter road conditions can get pretty sketchy!

It’s only a matter of time before winter rolls in to stay for awhile and as Canadians we all know that winter weather can be a challenge to negotiate out on the highway.

Sometimes it is almost impossible to see where the road ends and the ditch begins. Add blowing snow to the mix and the situation can get pretty sketchy in a split second. Under extreme conditions it is a testament to the drivers of big rigs that more don’t end up in the ditch.

When temperatures go below -30 ending up in the ditch, whether its day or night, presents a whole new set of problems. Not just for the driver of the rig, but for the tow truck operators as well. Keeping warm and safe while working with thousands of pounds of frozen steel is a difficult process. Because the human body is mostly made up of water and we know that water freezes at -32C, getting stuck in the ditch on a -40 night becomes more of a rescue than a tow.

Anywhere, any time, Big Rig Towing & Recovery is available 24-7 to service all of your heavy duty towing and recovery requirements.

Cold Storage Rollover

It’s always good to keep your meat cold to prevent it from spoiling, but a rollover in cold temperatures is definitely not the ideal way to preserve it! When this rig rolled over some of the load scattered and not long after Big Rig Towing was onsite to right the rig and rescue what was left of the valuable cargo.

Vehicle rollovers can be one of the most frightening accidents and can happen in the blink of an eye. Fortunately in this case the best news is that no one was hurt in the mishap.

Big Rig Towing & Recovery works with highly qualified and certified technicians and are reliable and experienced. If you find yourself in a roadside emergency, give us a call TOLL FREE AT 1 (866) 398-7444. We’re available 24/7.

It can also lift heavy equipment from one place to another or assist in getting cargo off one rig onto another.

Big Rig Towing has a number of rotator tow trucks and can boast having the only 75-ton sliding rotator in Southern Alberta. Is your load secure? Have you double checked?

The danger in trucking doesn’t always lay with poor road conditions or weather. It can be as simple as just not tying down your load properly.

How many times have you seen a big truck with an even bigger load trying to negotiate around a tight corner looking like it was going to topple over? Or a flat deck with a load wider than the deck and not looking like it was centered? You can tie it down but if it’s not in the right place to begin with you’re going to have problems.

Big Rig Towing lifted this heavy 65,000 pound steel coil from it’s deck after it shifted during transport. Not an easy task to pick it up and transfer it to another trailer.

Why risk it? You want to get to your destination in a safe, cost-effective and timely manner. Know which tie-downs to use and how to safely strap down your load so it does not shift or affect your centre of balance.

Big Rig Towing & Recovery is available 24-7 to service all of your heavy duty towing and recovery requirements. In the event this happens to you Big Rig is here to help. Just get in touch at (866) 398-7444 for immediate service.

Dedicated to providing IMMEDIATE rescue service!

At Big Rig Towing we aren’t always called out to accidents where wreckage is strewn all over and there is a broken rig that needs righting or towing. Sometimes it’s just a large piece of equipment that has met its end too soon. For example, this big excavator that simply burned out on the job-site. We just picked it up and took it to the scrap yard!

If you find yourself in a disabled or precarious situation give Big Rig Towing a call at 866-398-7444. We’ll help you out when you need to get back on the road or even back to work as quickly as possible. We’re dedicated to providing IMMEDIATE 24/7 service!

Snow, so soon?!

Not all Big Rig Towing jobs are the recovery of crashed or stuck rigs. Sometimes it’s as simple as a big, unexpected wet and heavy snowfall like we just experienced here in Alberta this weekend.

When a parked rig has a large accumulation of snow on its roof you can’t just take off down the road. If you do, and the truck gets up to speed, a few hundred pounds of that wet, heavy snow could fly off and cause serious damage to the vehicles following, or worse, send a trailing vehicle into an oncoming lane. Definitely not a desired situation.

Not all solutions have to be complicated hookups or rotator-coordinated events either. This snow removal campaign was remedied by hooking up a volunteer shoveller to the rotator and hoisting them on top of the rig to get rid of its snowy burden.
