Speed Rolls

It always comes down to how fast your going. This rig rolled because of excessive speed. When you have 40,000 lbs on board one small move and it’s a disaster. Fortunately no one was hurt and Big Rig Towing got the rig back on its wheels and off to repair.

Rotator

photo 4A tow truck rotator is essentially a big crane mounted to the deck of the tow truck and can be used for everything from lifting heavy machinery fallen from rigs that have flipped over or for removing a load from a rig that needs less weight so it can be towed. It can also lift heavy equipment from one place to another to assist in getting cargo off one rig onto another.

Big Rig Towing has a number of rotator tow trucks and they are constantly in use. Especially once the weather gets cold the highways become more treacherous. An expert rotator operator can make all the difference in getting your towing situation resolved quickly and safely.

Earth Day 2016: Five Inspiring Facts and How to do Your Bit

Don’t forget to adjust your clocks!

clocksforwardDaylight Savings Time is coming up this weekend so get ready to spring forward!

Daylight Savings Time is a way of making better use of the daylight in the evenings by setting the clocks forward one hour during the longer days of summer.

At 2 a.m. on Sunday March 13 our clocks are readjusted forward by an hour.

This adjustment will take place automatically on smartphones, computers and tablets, but for those still living with non-automated devices on your wrists or shelves you will have to manually upgrade the time to stay current.

Sorry to say we’ll lose an hour of sleep because of the change, but it also means we’re one hour closer to spring…ahhhhh

A Cat Gets Tipsy

You can never be too careful when using heavy machinery in unfamiliar or rugged terrain. This excavator took a tumble in an out of the way location but we solved the issue with our seventy five ton rotator and got it back up on it’s feet and back on the job.

Big Rig Towing can do more than just tow your distressed rig or heavy equipment we can also so heavy lifting and moving.

Give us a call to see if we can help move your heavy equipment.

Ram

Big Rig Towing RescueIn the middle of these two tractor trailers is a Dodge Ram Pick Up truck.

The amazing thing is that there were only minor injuries.

Initially one truck side swiped another causing one to hit a passenger vehicle.

Other traffic stopped to act as traffic control and to advise oncoming drivers of the accident had a vehicle parked some distance from the original scene. A third tractor trailer traveling at a high rate of speed, hit not only the Dodge Ram parked off the side of the road, but the three vehicles in the original accident.

You can see the end result.

Celebrate Canada Day 2015

It’s hard to believe that Canada Day is this coming Wednesday July 1, virtually right around the corner!

Since it falls on a Wednesday this year, it means you’ll have to take two days off (Mon & Tues or Thurs & Fri) to make Canada Day a long weekend. But hey, a 5 day weekend sounds pretty good right about now, right?! Especially given the beautiful weather forecast for the week ; )

What are we celebrating anyway?

Canada Day celebrates the birthday of Canada. On July 1, 1867 Canada became a new federation with its own constitution by signing the Constitution Act – formerly known as the British North America Act.

Come out & celebrate Canada’s birthday with thousands of other Calgarians!

There will be free activities for the entire family on Prince’s Island including a First Nations Powwow and a Living Flag activity. And Canada Day wouldn’t be Canada Day in Calgary without music and festivities along the Riverfront. Join the fun at the Festival Market with a fantastic line-up of Canadian Bands on the Riverfront Stage, a Food Truck Roundup, and to wind up the evening, an amazing fireworks display.
