Our team is trained to properly assess the situation and determine the best towing method to ensure the safety of everyone involved.

In addition to safety concerns, there are also legal considerations when it comes to towing. Different jurisdictions may have different laws and regulations regarding towing, including weight restrictions, equipment requirements, and licensing.

At Big Rig Towing, we stay up-to-date on all local and national regulations to ensure that we’re operating within the law at all times. We take pride in our commitment to safety and compliance, and we’re always happy to answer any questions you may have about the towing process.

While we’re capable of towing almost anything that will move, it’s important to exercise caution and hire a professional towing service when necessary. Rollover retrospective

Vehicle rollovers can be one of the most frightening accidents and can happen in the blink of an eye. When this rig rolled over some of the frozen meat load scattered. It’s always good to keep your meat cold to prevent it from spoiling, but a rollover in cold temperatures is definitely not the ideal way to preserve it!

Not long after this rollover occurred Big Rig Towing was onsite to right the rig and rescue what was left of the valuable cargo. Fortunately, the best news was that no one was hurt in the mishap.

Big Rig Towing & Recovery works with highly qualified and certified technicians and are reliable and experienced. If you find yourself in an unstable, dangerous or difficult roadside emergency, give us a call TOLL FREE AT 1 (866) 398-7444. We’re available 24/7.

Not all solutions have to be complicated hookups or rotator-coordinated events

Not all Big Rig Towing jobs are the recovery of crashed or stuck rigs. Sometimes it’s as simple as a big, unexpected wet and heavy snowfall.

When a parked rig has a large accumulation of snow on its roof you can’t just take off down the road. If you do, and the truck gets up to speed, a few hundred pounds of that wet, heavy snow could fly off and cause serious damage to the vehicles following, or worse, send a trailing vehicle into an oncoming lane. Definitely not a desired situation.

Not all solutions have to be complicated hookups or rotator-coordinated events either. This snow removal campaign was remedied by hooking up a volunteer shoveller to the rotator and hoisting them on top of the rig to get rid of its snowy burden.

5 great tips for a healthy lifestyle while on the road

If your occupation equates to life on the road, especially long-hauls, it can be challenging from diet and sleep habits, to finding ways to live a healthy lifestyle mentally, physically and emotionally. Five valuable tips key to living a balanced life:

1. Make a concerted effort to eat more nutritious meals and snacks. They can make a difference to your energy levels and overall health. Try to avoid fast food as part of your staple diet. Don’t skip breakfast – it’s still considered the most nutritious meal of the day! When stopping for meals, try to order fresh items from the menu. Packing healthy snacks such as protein bars, fruit, veggies, consuming less refined sugars and drinking lots of water (will keep you hydrated and will make you feel better while on the road) are all key. Listen to your body’s cues for hunger and fullness and thirst.

2. Make sure to move your body! Sitting for hours can be hard on your health. No matter how tired from staring at the white line for hours at a time, creating a healthier routine for yourself will energize you. Simple exercise is important so go for a walk or a jog and even invest in a small pair of dumbbells to use while on the road. By engaging in these activities consistently they can help with both physical and mental health by improving circulation, strengthening muscles, and de-stressing your mind.

3. Get good restorative sleep. Keeping a regular sleep schedule can be difficult while on the road. Sleep deprivation can not only leave you cranky, groggy and listless, not being wide awake on the road can be a safety issue. Try to consistently get adequate sleep so that you’re well rested and energized while on the road. Your physical strength and mental alertness depend on the quantity and quality of your sleep.

4. Stay connected to family and friends. Long hours alone on the road can make you feel lonely and disconnected from family and friends and your regular routine. Fortunately, technology is helpful in keeping you connected. Cell phones and options like Facetime and Skype can keep you closer and in more frequent contact with loved ones by calling or messaging. Reaching out to those you’re closest with as often as possible will help to keep your relationships strong.

5. Keep your rig clean. Your vehicle is your home Continue reading

Fog and trains don’t mix when it comes to railway crossings and vehicles of any size

Fog related accidents usually result in head-on and rear-end collisions, two of the most common fog-related incidents. A recent study showed that more instances of fog-related crashes occurred in the early morning hours from December to February.

This rig ran amiss of a freight train in the fog and became one of many like incidents that occur across the country in poor driving conditions.

Fortunately the driver was not injured and Big Rig Towing was able to use their 75-ton rotator to clear the wreckage and get the train on its way and the driver to safety.

Big Rig Towing can do more than just tow your distressed rig or heavy equipment. We have a solid reputation for doing heavy lifting and moving. If you find yourself in a disabled or precarious situation give Big Rig Towing a shout toll free at 1 (866) 398-7444. We offer 24/7 dispatch service.

Be pro-active – ensure everything runs smoothly ahead of time – you’ll never regret it!

Your rig is your livelihood so it’s critical to keep it in perfect condition and operating at peak efficiency. A well-maintained and properly functioning rig can help to ensure your safety and the safety of the drivers around you as well as add years to the life of your rig.

It is an expensive piece of equipment so keeping it clean and running smoothly is not only a great responsibility that may take some time and maintenance, but more importantly it’s your best defense to avoid trouble while out on the road. After all, you don’t want to worry about forced downtime and loss of time and income.

Before a long haul it’s important that you take the time to check your oil, inspect your radiator and your brakes, top up your fluids, grease moving parts, check the fuel vent, check your tires and of course, ensure your load is secured.

Keeping the exterior clean can mean additional safety by cleaning your mirrors and cleaning your windows. By keeping it waxed and polished you add protection to your rig’s longevity.

Keeping the interior clean is exceptionally important especially if you’re “living” or spending long periods of time in it. It’s your home away from home and pride of ownership can make a difference to your comfort, your sleep, your quality of life and peace of mind.
